The last few days have mostly been enjoyable, cycling along the Danube and through woodland and passing through some lovely, old town centres. I have tried to not let the issues with roadworks and the ferry colour my overall impression of this section and Passau has been a lovely place in which to finish.
From here the route takes me into Austria and on to Vienna which should take about three days. It is apparently one of the most famous sections of the EV6 route with the promise of old towns, rich culture and comfortable flat roads. Enns, the oldest town in Austria is also on this stage.
I now have the choice of two routes: one mostly on the south bank of the Danube and the other mostly on the north. Neither are fully signed according to my information, the south bank seems more rural which appeals but there is at least one place on the north bank route I would like to see. There are bridges and ferries across the river so it looks like I will trying to 'mix and match' as each day goes by.
