I have enjoyed the last few days although there has been a fair bit of cycling adjacent to roads. Nevertheless, the section along the northern bank of the Danube where I needed to catch the bike ferries stands out with its beautiful views and sense of peace and isolation. I do wonder if later in the season it might be quite overrun with walkers and cyclists but for me, now, it was just perfect.
I am now approaching what personally will be the most interesting part of the trip: countries I have never previously visited and with the challenge of languages I have no knowledge of associated with alphabets I can not read. I think Google translate will be my best friend in the coming weeks.
In this short stage I leave the capital of Austria, head to Bratislava, capital of Slovakia, and finish in the capital of Hungary, Budapest. There is the promise of more wine producing areas in Slovakia and Hungary and of old towns and beautiful architecture, particularly in Budapest. With any luck I will be in that city in four days time.
